Vintage Christmas Decorations
It sometimes seems that we always wants something new and shiny. This is never more obvious than around the Christmas season. Walking around our area, I can already see all of the different lights being displayed in front of all of the different homes. Although the lighting designs change from property to property, it is obvious that everyone wants to make as much impact as possible. You will see that there are animated Christmas light displays, full size Santa Claus figures, snowmen that wave at passers by, and elaborate designs of outdoor Christmas lighting are some of the many things you can see around my area.
I don't mind these Christmas decorations, but they don't really suit the architecture of my home. As my home is older style it tends to lend itself to vintage Christmas decor. I love the classic simplicity of old designs, and my home is proof of that. I have antiques or vintage furniture and furnishings in each room of my home. I believe that good design is timeless and does not change with fashion. That is why I am such a huge collector of vintage Christmas decorations.

I have a collection of vintage Christmas ornaments which I adore. Some of my ornaments have been handed down from family through the generations. My grandmother is always giving me vintage Christmas decorations from her own collection so that I can add to mine. Almost every year I get a new one ornament for her. Sometimes it is a bauble, other times a Christmas candle holder or old style lighted Christmas decoration. Over the years I have accumulated quite a number of vintage decorations and fortunately have not lost too many through mishaps.
My favorite ornaments are the ones that I owned as a child. I have a little tin toy train that I used to always love to decorate the tree with. I also have a small nutcracker, and a little globe filled with water and a fairy castle. Giving Christmas ornaments to a child each Christmas will bring lots of job and nostalgia in years to come.
I also buy my own vintage christmas decorations and sometimes buy new "vintage look" decorations to fill gaps in the tree. You can purchase vintage Christmas ornaments at antique stores, garage sales, secondhand stores and you can find the same ornaments for far cheaper online. stores. I don't mind if I buy true vintage ornaments or commercial copies as long as they have the old fashioned look that I love.
