Why I Changed to a Battery Operated Christmas Light
I don't often think about the mechanics of Christmas lights I just enjoy having them on display. Usually, I use regular strands of Christmas lights and never considered needing battery power. It just was not something that I thought about, as the strand lighting had been working just dandy for years and years. Then last year, disaster struck one of my neighbors. The high power Christmas lights had shorted for some reason or another. He is a pretty careful guy, and so I figured that if it could happen to him, it could happen to me.
I went out and bought a battery operated Christmas light strand just to give it a try. I figured that I would use it in doors. I had already heard a few leading safety experts recommend battery operated tree lights as a good way to reduce the risk of a holiday fire. Natural lighted Christmas trees like ours can have dry needles and peeling bark, increasing the risk of having a fire. That is why I figured indoor Christmas lights were the best place to start in my effort to cut the risks.

I went out and bought some battery operated Christmas lights and I was really surpised. I had been using led Christmas lights - the little ones with a low power drain - which meant that the batteries would be able to last a long time without needing to be changed. Price wise they were a little bit more expensive than regular Christmas lights, but they definitely were worth it.
I wasn't quite sure if I wanted to update all of my outdoor Christmas lights. After all, I had been stocking up on them for years, and I had quite a collection. In the end, I decided to buy a strand or two of outdoor battery operated Christmas light, and see what I thought of it.
I must say that it was pretty impressed with my new Christmas lighting display. You could find a battery operated Christmas light in almost any style, and some of them had a wide range of different blinking styles to choose from. For really bright lighting, it still makes sense to stay away from battery operated Christmas light, as the power drain is too high. But for the rest of it, you can decorate your house for the holiday season and reduce your risk of fire with battery operated lights. Best of all, you do not have to worry about the hassle of plugging all of them in!
Christmas Lights House Display
I love the spirit of Christmas. I look forward to seeing all the sights that make up the magic of the season for me. Nothing says that Christmas is coming to me better than when I see the Christmas lights house. These displays are usually excellent and I love driving at night with my family to check out the Christmas lights house. Usually there will be holiday music playing and a beautiful illuminated display. As soon as I see these things I really know that Santa is on his way. It always amazes me how much the people who decorate their Christmas lights house give joy to people like me who are strangers. In our area there is always a competition in the paper for the best Christmas lights house. People get to drive around and admire the decorations and then vote on their favourite. I can't remember what the prize is, I don't think people enter for the money, more for the joy of decorating their house with beautiful lights for all to admire.

Wholesale Christmas Decorations
Picking out just the right wholesale Christmas decorations can be a tough thing for a businessman to do. After all, you have to strike just the right balance. On the one hand, in some areas too heavy of an emphasis on Christian Christmas ornaments can really turn people off of your business. On the other hand, happy holidays decorations are a little bit too generic for most people's tastes.
The best thing to do with your commercial Christmas decorations is to use a lot of decorating ideas without overt religious overtones. Outdoor Christmas lights, snowflake decorations, icicle lights above the door, and even a Santa Clause here or there probably will not offend anyone's sensibilities. Artificial Christmas wreaths on the door can also help to add a warm, cozy feel which is perfect in the winter months.

Of course, some businessmen like to go all out with commercial Christmas decoration. A friend of mine owns a wholesale warehouse downtown, and he is always pretty enthusiastic about going to great lengths to make seasonal decorations that will amuse and impress people. He has animated Christmas lights out in front of his building, a 15 foot tall Christmas tree inside, and even an air blown Christmas decoration or two to really spice things up. His store is the closest thing that we have to a Christmas village in this city, so he can really benefit by going all out with the commercial Christmas decoration.
Then again, if you are running a bar or a coffee shop, you probably do not want to do too much commercial Christmas decorating. After all, people come to those businesses as a sort of escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. On those days when there are Christmas jingles playing from every store, it is nice to be able to get a drink or a cup of coffee in a place that is not too saturated with Christmas spirit.
Then again, I know folks who operate coffee shops with a very different philosophy. I know one where they actually move one or two tables into the back to make room for all of the commercial Christmas decoration they put up. It is really something to see when they get it all set up. It is not how I run my business, but the patrons at that place seem to like it well enough. And after all, isn't it about making the customers happy?
