It Is Possible To Get An Inexpensive Christmas Gift
Just because you do not have a lot of money to spend on Christmas presents does not mean that you can’t get good gifts for your friends and family. There are a lot of excellent inexpensive Christmas gift ideas out there just waiting to delight your loved ones. Of course, some of the most inexpensive Christmas gifts are the ones that you make yourself. A lot of people never investigate making handmade Christmas presents, but it really is a lot easier than you might think. You can, for example, assemble a Christmas gift basket out of a wicker basket, a bottle of wine, and some fancy coffee or fresh fruit. Add a Christmas card and a bow, and you are all set to go.
Of course, a great source for all of your inexpensive Christmas gift needs is the dollar store. You never know what you might find there. You can get cute mugs, fake flowers, bath and body supplies - you name it, and it is probably at the dollar store. It is never a good idea to wait until the last minute to look for dollar store gifts, however. The selection can vary a lot from day to day, so you need to be sure to leave time to look somewhere else just in case you need to.
Another great source for an inexpensive Christmas gift idea is the internet. There are all sorts of online gift ideas out there. You can buy from some factory direct store, bid on presents off of Ebay, or even order a custom Christmas gift online. There are actually stores that will make your own customized presents for a surprisingly affordable price. You can get custom teddy bears, engraved pen sets, and even personalized jewelry. Not all of these items are going to be inexpensive Christmas gifts, of course, but there are bound to be some deals among them.
Don’t forget craft fairs and secondhand stores either. If you want an inexpensive Christmas gift, those places can be gold mines. Sometimes people will sell you handmade local crafts for next to nothing if you hit the right booth at the right time. It is all just a matter of looking around and seeing what is available. The cheap gifts out there might just surprise you. If you chose the right gift, the recipient might not even know that you did not spend a lot of money on it.
Christmas Gift Baskets
The Christmas holidays can arouse all sorts of emotions in people. For some, they look forward to the usual happy celebrations they have experienced in the past. For other families Christmas may bring back unhappy memories and be tinged with sadness. Some religons and cultures do not celebrate Christmas the way the western world does and for them the lead up to Christmas may make them feel isolated. For It does not matter which category you fall into, the holidays are quickly approaching and gift lists need to be prepared and shopping needs to begin.
I have been lucky to have beautiful memories of wonderful Christmas moments over the years. Traditions feature heavily in my family including gift giving, a day spent baking, visiting family and friends and, of course, going to Church.
Even though I am all grown up now I still see Christmas as a magical time.
Once I have made my list of who I will be buying gifts for I can relax and get on with my gift buying. During the year I make a variety of craft items which I incorporate in Christmas gift baskets along with my home baked goodies. I first started giving the Christmas gift baskets when I was a college student and could not afford to spend a lot on high priced gifts. Everyone loved my Christmas gift baskets and so I have kept making and giving them as my friends and family look forward to receiving them. The only difference now is that, because I have an income, I can afford to use the best high quality ingredients in my baked goodies and craft items.
I spend some time through the year planning the style of basket that I will create for a particular person. Mostly, I use baskets to create my Christmas gift baskets but depending on the type of personality of the receiver I might change that. One year, for instance, my Christmas gift basket was actually a tackle box for my Uncle who had just started fishing. I have sometimes seen lovely hat boxes and oriental boxes that I use to suit the theme of my Christmas gift basket. The point is, that you are not limited by the type of container that you put the goodies in.
The gifts that I create for my Christmas gift baskets are usually standard Christmas fare including something knitted or crocheted, either socks, slippers mittens, scarf or hat, a piece of beaded jewelry for the women, a loaf of bread, homemade jam, caramels, fudge and a specially made candied apple.
I love it when I show up at Christmas with my Christmas gift baskets. The happiness that these baskets bring to others really is a gift to me.

If there is one thing you can say for my family, it is that we always did the best with what we had. Every Christmas gift basket was a work of art. We would, of course, include small bits of gourmet food. My grandmother loved to make preserves, and this was always one of the central ingredients of every Christmas gift basket. We would include pieces of cheese from my father's pasture, and a little but of sausage if we could afford it. Besides that, of course, there were candies for the children. They were all wrapped in brightly colored paper and tinsel, perfect for the holidays.
Christmas gift baskets are half about what is inside and half about what is outside. We would do an amazing job wrapping those things up. What we did not have in money, we made up for with time and care. We would use bows, ribbons, streamers, and anything else we could find around. We would also make great Christmas cards and send them out to all the relatives. No one was ever disappointed with our Christmas gift baskets.
As a matter of fact, more often than not, we received compliments on them. People really love getting a personal, handmade gift. I can't emphasize this enough. It is nice to get something useful and practical, and it is even better to get something indulgent and whimsical, but getting something that someone you care about spent a lot of time making is unbelievable. It really makes a nice gesture and they will know how much effort you put into it. It might take a while, and the first attempt does not always come out well, but keep at it. Christmas gift baskets – or any other handmade gifts – are definitely worth it. You will save a few bucks, and give a gift that will be cherished.
