Christmas Light Decorating Adds Sparkle Up Your Home

You may not have to buy a lot of different things when you are decorating for the holidays if you don’t want to have a complicated set up each year. Some people like to use Christmas light decorating to give their home a warm and cheery glow without having to worry about other types of decorations. This can be quite beautiful, and it does not have to be very complicated if you don’t want it to be. Use as much or as little light as you want, and get into the holiday spirit.

When you want to create your holiday looks with just lights, you have a few options. You can use just white light, and that is always a great look. You can add more colors, or you can go with just two. Whatever you want. Some like to use just blue, as they give off a calming light, and some like to have all types of colors that twinkle and blink. Just remember that you want to be careful about putting blinking or bright lights where your Christmas light decorating might keep you or someone else up at night.

If you have a certain light color you are using for your home, you can use that color or those colors for the rest of your home. This makes your holiday decorating ideas spread evenly throughout your home for a really great look. You may want to have this in just one room, and that is just fine, but remember: you can have Christmas light decorating anywhere you want it to be, and though it can cost more to spread it throughout the house, this might be just what you need to feel the spirit of Christmas.

When looking for lights, you may run into a problem when you want a specific color that might not be as common as the others.

Each year I look for blue lights, and by the time I look, I am usually too late. They are all gone. If you want something like that - blue, green, red, or purple - make sure you shop very early, or find a site online that has what you need.

You may even want to skip the stores and go straight to the Internet if you think you are going to have a problem. You may even find more ideas that way, and you may find lighting effects that have lights, but aren’t necessarily in a string.

You never know until you look.

On my block, people seem to keep putting up bigger and bigger Christmas decorations all the time. Holiday decorations are anything but subtle here in the suburbs. Christmas lighting will sometimes take up the whole yard. My neighbor Jim, for example, has a lighted inflatable snowman, a glowing reindeer carousel, and dozens of other displays as well. This year, I thought that I’d buck the trend. I wanted to go for a touch of class, using an understated Christmas display. Of course, I have been using miniature Christmas tree lights for years. I like to create a multi-tiered effect by using lights of different sizes and colors. I have a small strand of white light bulbs at the back, a smaller Christmas light strand halfway down the branches, and some miniature Christmas lights at the tips of the limbs. It takes a while to set up, but the effect is gorgeous. I have always had one of the best Christmas trees in the neighborhood, even when you don’t factor in my impressive collection of Christmas ornaments.

Putting up the miniature Christmas lights on the outside of my house, however, seemed like a much bigger challenge. It wasn’t that it is hard to put up Christmas led lights on the roof - they are no harder to put up than any other strand of lights. The real challenge was doing the light display to create the maximum effect. I really wanted to create a look that would be noticed. I wanted my fare share of holiday attention!

The key to a good miniature Christmas light display - as I found out after spending a few hours tinkering with different configurations - is to go for something understated. A lot of people decide to buy tons of miniature Christmas lights, believing that the cumulative effect will be more impressive than using fewer strands of normal lights. In my opinion, if you are going for sheer volume and impressiveness, just use the normal lights! With miniature Christmas lights, subtlety is the key. Trace the outline of your house, make a few simple designs, or write happy holidays on the fence. The display will be less over the top, which makes it more magical somehow. Everyone can do bigger and brighter. It takes a man of taste to do a more sophisticated Christmas display.

A Christmas light string will look great on a tree, though you may have to have more than one. You can get a very long string in one color if you wish, or you can find some strings that have multiple colors. If you only want to have two colors - white and blue, for example - you can get two smaller strings and put them both on the tree. That way you get what you want, but you did not have to search high and low for a specific string of Christmas lights that might have had just the two colors you were interested in having for your tree décor.

When you are decorating the rest of your home for Christmas, you can use your Christmas light string just about anywhere, as long as you have a way to plug it in and it won’t keep you up at night. Some like to have the strings around the ceiling in certain rooms, or they like to line the doorways with them. You can pretty much do anything you want as long as you feel good about the look you have come up with. If electrical outlets are a problem, you can always search for battery powered Christmas lights to take care of that problem. However, then you do have to worry about batteries dying before the season is over.

You can also use your Christmas light string to put some light and color on the outside of your home. When you want to do this, you do have to choose strings that are made to outside in order to be sure your home and your family are safe. If you use the wrong set of lights outside, they could short out and set your home on fire. Always check each string for working bulbs and any frays on any wires so you are sure you are using lights that are as safe as they can be.

I don't often think about the mechanics of Christmas lights I just enjoy having them on display. Usually, I use regular strands of Christmas lights and never considered needing battery power. It just was not something that I thought about, as the strand lighting had been working just dandy for years and years. Then last year, disaster struck one of my neighbors. The high power Christmas lights had shorted for some reason or another. He is a pretty careful guy, and so I figured that if it could happen to him, it could happen to me.

I went out and bought a battery operated Christmas light strand just to give it a try. I figured that I would use it in doors. I had already heard a few leading safety experts recommend battery operated tree lights as a good way to reduce the risk of a holiday fire. Natural lighted Christmas trees like ours can have dry needles and peeling bark, increasing the risk of having a fire. That is why I figured indoor Christmas lights were the best place to start in my effort to cut the risks.

I went out and bought some battery operated Christmas lights and I was really surpised. I had been using led Christmas lights - the little ones with a low power drain - which meant that the batteries would be able to last a long time without needing to be changed. Price wise they were a little bit more expensive than regular Christmas lights, but they definitely were worth it.

I wasn't quite sure if I wanted to update all of my outdoor Christmas lights. After all, I had been stocking up on them for years, and I had quite a collection. In the end, I decided to buy a strand or two of outdoor battery operated Christmas light, and see what I thought of it.

I must say that it was pretty impressed with my new Christmas lighting display. You could find a battery operated Christmas light in almost any style, and some of them had a wide range of different blinking styles to choose from. For really bright lighting, it still makes sense to stay away from battery operated Christmas light, as the power drain is too high. But for the rest of it, you can decorate your house for the holiday season and reduce your risk of fire with battery operated lights. Best of all, you do not have to worry about the hassle of plugging all of them in!

Even during Christmas, we still are house proud and not only do we want to look good but we also want our decorations to keep up with the neighbors. This can be a hard task because so much time and money is spent on outdoor Christmas lighting and holiday decorations. I was surprised to find out that many of my neighbors start planning their lighted outdoor Christmas decorations months before Christmas time. The days are gone when house decorating was as simple as running a string of lights along the roof and making a snowman in the front yard. Nowadays, if you don't spend weeks decorating, it looks like you have put in almost no effort at all and don't care!

If you are short on time there are some great shortcuts to Christmas decorating. The best one, in my opinion, is using animated outdoor Christmas decorations. I first discovered them a few years ago when one of my friends was putting up his Christmas light display. I was surprised to see him covering his lawn with silhouettes made of stiff wire. When I asked him about it, he told me to wait and see. He was bursting with pride to show off the work that he had put in to the animated outdoor Christmas decorations, and wanted to show me the finished display instead of explaining it to me.

The display was so gorgeous that it was really worth the wait! The effect was absolutely stunning. The animated outdoor Christmas decoration was actually a moving animation of Santa Claus driving his reindeer. The reindeer would move across the lawn, Santa raising his whip to spur them into action as they leapt dramatically on. It was classic and high-tech at the same time. It was, in short, just what I was looking for in my Christmas decor.

Animated outdoor Christmas decorations come in many different styles. I prefer the look of animated wire, but some people like to go a lot further than that. I have a neighbor who actually has an electric powered carousel with reindeer moving around inside of it. It is not something that you can ride, of course, but it does make quite an impression. The whole thing flashes and glows with red and green lights and can even be programmed to play Christmas carols. Only your imagination can hold you back when it comes to designing animated outdoor Christmas decorations.

Christmas Lights House Display

I love the spirit of Christmas. I look forward to seeing all the sights that make up the magic of the season for me. Nothing says that Christmas is coming to me better than when I see the Christmas lights house. These displays are usually excellent and I love driving at night with my family to check out the Christmas lights house. Usually there will be holiday music playing and a beautiful illuminated display. As soon as I see these things I really know that Santa is on his way. It always amazes me how much the people who decorate their Christmas lights house give joy to people like me who are strangers. In our area there is always a competition in the paper for the best Christmas lights house. People get to drive around and admire the decorations and then vote on their favourite. I can't remember what the prize is, I don't think people enter for the money, more for the joy of decorating their house with beautiful lights for all to admire.
